An experimental iPhone app · Current stop coverage: Netherlands
Whether you’re exploring unfamiliar roads or planning a longer day out, the app helps you consider what’s ahead without constantly searching the map.
Import a route to your iPhone, see it on the map and follow your progress as you ride.
Choose the kinds of places you’re interested in, from cafés and food shops to water and bicycle repair.
Review suggested stops ahead, decide whether to stop and open directions in Apple Maps.
The prototype combines route information, nearby places and ride context to help make a stop feel like part of the journey.
Explore cafés, food shops, drinking water, toilets, shelters and bicycle repair points near your route.
When available, a remote advisor can use ride context and stored history to suggest a stop or stay quiet.
If a remote recommendation is unavailable or too slow, on-device rules can use cached stops instead.
Review stored rides and routes, upload GPX files and manage your account in the rider portal.
Cycling Companion is an experimental project. Explore the iOS source and build the app for your own iPhone using Xcode.
